A native of Cremona, Italy, Maurizio Tadioli was born September 16, 1967 and began studying the art of violin making as a child with his grandfather, Carlo Pizzamiglio. He graduated in 1985 from the Scuola Internazionaledi Liuteria in Cremona and has since earned a reputation for both the quality of his craftsmanship and distinct personal style. Particularly, for his traditional bench copies, the inspiration he takes from the Emiliano, Torinese, and Milanese schools, and his masterful antiquing and varnish work. He has attended and presided over numerous workshops, taught at the Scuola Internazionaledi Liuteria in Cremona for many years, served on the jury of instrument making competitions, and won a litany of well deserved awards for his work.

This viola features a highly transparent but beautifully shaded and artistically textured golden orange varnish and follows a Brescian “Da Salo” pattern, a model which achieves a larger more complex sound with a woody quality, with higher more pronounced arching and wider bouts, with double purfling which culminates in a fleur pattern on the back. Sold with a certificate from the maker.
