A Tyrolean Inspired Cello By Daniel Oliver of Lenoir City, TN, 2022.
A resident of Tennessee, Daniel Oliver has more than two decades of experience as a luthier and has worked for Georg Heinl & Co in Toronto, William Harris Lee in Chicago, and Ronald Sachs in Georgia, among others. He crafts predominantly cellos on a commission basis but also makes a limited numbers of violins and violas of personal modeling. This cello from 2022 boasts a very generous, Tyrolean inspired arching that lends the instrument a broad colorful sound with surprising power in direction that readily demonstrates Danny’s familiarity with performance as a cellist himself. Orange and touches of red over a yellow ground coat and well selected tonewoods. Idiosyncratic but remarkably competitive.
