An Interesting Violin Bow By Paul Wiedhass For Victor Fetique. S/E

Paul Weidhaas (1894-1962) was a highly respected bow maker who has come to be regarded not only as patriarch of the Finkel dynasty of bow makers, but one of the most influential artisans of his generation. He studied under his father and continued honing his craft under Liebich from Breslau and Winterling in Hamburg. After completing his master’s examination in 1918, he managed the family workshop but continued to travel, working for Möller and Vedral in the Netherlands and Victor Fetique in Paris. The Wiedhass-Finkel workshop officially began operating in Brienz, Switzerland in 1955, but before that J. Stiiber and V. Fetique continued to commission bows from him. This bow is an exciting early example of the production Wiedhass supplied Fetique with, made very close to 1930 and is branded for French artisan.
