An Interesting American Violin by Victor Emmanuel, 1985
An interesting American violin ascribed to Victor Emanuel of Pasadena, California, 1985; in an excellent state of preservation, with no damages, nor any repairs, less some minor wear and surface dirt to the oil varnish. Demonstrating a somewhat broad personal form, with f holes after Guadagnini, this violin possesses a sweet soprano voice, rich in color yet still clear and vibrant.
Perhaps, worth mentioning: with ebony pins, and an ebony spacer between the button and root of the neck, framed by what I can only call a reverse collar, with an ebony ‘button’ set into the button of the back. In keeping with the aesthetic principle set forth by the maker, presented with a black screw for the fine tuner.
Featuring fittings of Tetul with boxwood accents: Though somewhat lighter, if not more red in hue, Tetul has become one of the primarily selected substitutes for the endangered and now CITES protected rosewood; with a French Despiau Superieur bridge, lightweight titanium tailgut, and a fresh set of Vision strings.
