An Anonymous French Bow From Mirecourt, Circa 1850.

Measuring in an inch short and crafted from an exotic tropical wood, this anonymous French violin bow from Mirecourt dates to about 1850; featuring an open trench frog of ebony and a bone button with what appears to be an emerald set into the end, and silver tinsel on silk lapping without a thumb grip for a final balanced weight of 55.4 grams. Whereas this would traditionally be considered altogether light, the classical length and camber deliver a feeling of strength and modularity, with crisp articulation and an open, focused sound with a subtle velvety quality. Unusual, but delightfully good.
