A Modest German Viola Bow After Voirin
Exceptionally strong, equally nimble, with an easy spiccato in both the upper half and at the balance point, this chocolate colored, octagonal pernambuco viola bow is sure to please even the most demanding player. Stamped “FN VOIRIN A PARIS” on the handle and “FRANCE” behind the frog, with its original whalebone lapping, ivory tip plate, and a comfortable weight of 68.7 grams.
To be clear, this is not a Voirin. Rather, an homage to one of the most celebrated bowmakers of the 19th century. To my eye, first-half 20th century German workmanship.
