A Fine Contemporary Italian Violin by Nicolo Formaggia, 2025.

Nicolò Formaggia (b.1992) graduated from the International School of Violin Making in Cremona in 2012, where he studied under Aromatico, Voltini, and Amighetti. He furthered his studies with Ortona of Beare’s in London, and has taken courses with Primon, Osio, Montanari, Shudtz, Fasser, and Gregg Alf.

Formaggia’s violins are fashioned from carefully selected Balkan maple and the finest Italian spruce, modeled after a Stradivari from 1689 and the Cannone and Kreisler Guarneris. He is quickly earning a reputation as a maker to watch not only for the artistry of his work and its voice, but because many younger musicians who perform on his instruments advance competitively in their careers.

This instrument was commissioned by and completed for Cohen Violins in 2025.
