An Early 20th Century Saxon Cello

An early 20th Century Saxon Cello suitable for and regularly accustomed to professional performance use; an instrument which demonstrates modest but well executed craftsmanship and wood choice from an era of German making defined by its trade exports which staggeringly number in the millions. Purportedly, some seven million from Markneukirchen alone between 1880 and 1914. In fact, some of these were made with such haste and shoddy construction that they earned a less than affectionate nickname, ‘Saxon Jacks,’ slyly elucidating to those who know that they were anything but masterworks with a simple moniker. I make the digression to further the distinction of this instrument’s construction from that variety of export. It is fully lined and blocked in the proper tradition and presents in well restored condition, with a posture peg for the C string and a finely tuned setup that makes it a joy to play and easy to command. Capable of great nuance and presenting in well restored condition. The minor repairs, professionally treated and stable.
