A Contemporary Silver Mounted Viola Bow By Christian Wanka

Christian Wanka, born in 1973, began his training as bow maker with his father in 1992. In 2000, he left the family business to go to Toronto (Canada) to make the most of a six-month stay at The Sound Post.  He gained valuable experience working, among others, in a study seminar with bow maker William Salchow, in New York. In 2002, he took his masters’ examination in bow making before the Chamber of Chemnitz. Since 2004, he leads his father’s workshop and continues the family tradition.
