Circa 1850 School of Peccatte Viola Bow.
This mid-19th century French bIola bow demonstrates exquisite playing properties befitting its assigned pedigree and provenance of Peccatte School. Such as it is, an unbranded bow that cannot be further attributed to a particular maker, made in the style of and after the work of Dominique Peccatte, possibly from his workshop, or an inexpensive copy produced by the Pajeot workshop for Gand. Bows like this one are reasonable investments in that If it were a named bow, such a tool would be more interesting to a collector, elevating the item to ranges of price that make them otherwise too expensive for an up-and-coming player to obtain. An excellent and worthy alternative and competitor to similarly priced modern bows.
Amourette stick with an open trench ebony frog and there-piece nickel button, with silk on tinsel lapping and brown lizard leather for a final balanced weight of 66.4 grams; the classical camber lends a springy staccato, slightly higher in the stick, and beautifully articulates through different strokes, with a warm, velvety bead of sound.
