A Silver Mounted Violin Bow From The Weichold Workshop
“Mint Chocolate Chip.” If you love this ice cream flavor it’s because you always know what you’re going to get - sweet minty goodness with rich chocolate flavor. This freshly restored violin bow might as well be your favorite ice cream; strong and consistent through the stick with effortless spiccato, smooth tracking, and that mint chocolate chip sound. Maybe I just want ice cream for myself, but I’m very pleased with how this turned out.
Approximately 1890, Dresden. Stamped “Germany” behind the frog, with characteristics consistent to the output of Richard Weichold’s workshop. The stamp on the handle is too worn to make out. Sterling silver fittings on an ebony frog with a pearl eye (later), with an engraved silver button, new tip facing, hair, two toned silk lapping, black lizard leather thumb grip, and a perfectly balanced weight of 60.7 grams.
