A Good Silver Mounted Bow Made For Hans Weisshaar, Germany.
Strong with consistent flexibility, this good German bow was made for Hans Weisshaar in Los Angeles and is stamped accordingly to the player side of the handle and on the bottom facet behind the frog. Silver mounted, with a thick Parisian style eye, single-piece button, whalebone lapping, and its original ivory tip facing, this octagonal pernambuco violin bow has a final balanced weight of 62.1 grams. Drawing a consistent bead of vibrant sound with clearly ringing overtones, and demonstrating excellent playing properties, this bow comes highly recommended.
Hans Weisshar emigrated to the United States in 1937 after studying in Mittenwald and working in Germany, Holland, and Switzerland. He worked for WIlliam Lewis and Son in Chicago and then Emil Hermann in New York before moving to Los Angeles, California and opening his own shop in 1947. Weisshaar is one of the most recognized names in the industry several decades later and the shop is still synonymous with quality and service.
