A Good German Viola Bow By E. Lothar Herrmann.

Edwin Lothar Hermann (1914-1987) hailed from a storied dynasty of achetiers  spanning more than 200 years, which included the likes of C.W. Knopf. At the height of his craft and during his own lifetime, his bows sold for as much as those of his now more esteemed French colleagues, Sartory, Ouchard, and Fetique too. This silver mounted viola bow by Lothar Herrmann is a quality tool of admirable craftsmanship and material selection, featuring well chosen pernambuco, sterling silver mounts, its original faceplate, and a final balanced weight of 70.6 grams. Stamped with the maker’s name to the player side of the handle, and the family crest to the ebony frog with 1760 as an homage to the patriarch of the family dynasty.
