A Good English Violin By Ernest James Baker, 1905.
An altogether charming turn of the century English violin by Ernest James Baker of Kentish Town, London in 1905; modeled after the Tuscan Strad of 1690, with a back length of exactly 356mm - perfect proportions. Featuring a deep lustrous red varnish, seasoned with some craquelure, and a stunning single piece back, with matching flamed ribs and neck. Setup, in rosewood, with Evah Pirazzi strings, including a gold “E.” No cracks, nor any damages, less some wear to the varnish commensurate with 115 years of professional use. The voice, crystal clear and powerfully brilliant, with fine response and crisp articulation.
