A Contemporary Violin Bow By Sarah Bystrom.
At a balanced weight of 62.7 grams, this silver on ebony mounted violin bow by Sarah Bystrom draws a healthy round sound out of any string it brushes against and is finished with silver tinsel lapping and black lamb skin for the thumb grip. A good, affordable contemporary bow by a modern American achetier.
Sarah Bystrom apprenticed with John Reed in Red Wing Minnesota while studying both classical technique and Celtic fiddling from him, completing two violins by the age of 17. She continued her luthier studies under his direction and the tutorage of Lisbeth Nelson Butler at the esteemed Violin and Bow Repair program at Minnesota State College Southeast, from which she graduated in 2013. After completing these studies, she moved to Nashville Tennessee to work as the bow rehair and repair technician at Williams Fine Violins for several years and also began to study bow making under the direction of Rodney Mohr. She is a member of the Violin Society of America and has attended numerous workshops through Oberlin College, Learning Trade Secrets, and networking with others in the field. She now operates independently in Nashville, making bows and specializing in repairs, rehairs, and provides other professional services such as instrument set up and maintenance.
