A beautiful gold mounted viola bow by German achetier, Emile Werner (1906 – 1973); a highly characteristic earlier example featuring an octagonal stick of strong, dense pernambuco, with a gracefully defined head. Brandstamped, “Emil Werner ***” to the player side handle. The ebony frog, fully lined in gold, with the talons pinned, and matching three-piece adjuster in gold and ebony; original ivory tip facing, gold lapping and a large thumb grip bring the final balanced weight to 73 grams. The bow easily draws a broad, velvety timbre, with crisp, consistent articulations, effortless tracking, and highly responsive affectations.
