A French Viola Bow By Roger Francois Lotte For Louis Bazin, Circa 1970.
Roger François Lotte (1922-1989) apprenticed with his father, working alongside his mentor and collaborator from 1935 until Francois Sr. Retired in 1960. Though highly prolific, Roger Lotte’s earlier work is more highly regarded for the elegant and more traditional influences of his father. Generally, his outlines modernized and became heavier after 1970. Having said that, he was awarded several accolades including gold medals at Reims in 1942 and Nancy in 1944. He collaborated with Rene Bernard and supplied bows to Bernard Millant, Paul Hilaire, Paul Didier, Davot, Gerome Devoivre, George Cone, and Georges Apparut.
Made for and stamped “Louis Bazin” to the handle.
