A Rare American Violin by A.H. Seymour, 1926

Abijah Hayes Seymour (1860-1931) is a lesser known but nonetheless talented maker credited with 80 violins. His work is idiosyncratic in a refined way, often borrowing from other schools stylistically, with an attractive but often varying oil varnish. This rare violin was built in homage to Guarneri in 1926 while Seymour worked in Lincoln, Nebraska. The voice is clear, colorful, and remarkably powerful, with projection befitting a musician accustomed to solo engagements.

Less some minor crazing and craquelure to the varnish, this violin is in immaculate condition for its 94 years; updated with fresh fittings in rosewood with bone accents, including 110mm hollowed out tailpiece, titanium tailgut, titanium tuner, tuned Despiau Superieur bridge, and Titanium Solo Vision strings.
