A Mid-Century German Sivori Violin Bow

A mid-century German “Sivori” violin bow. Also stamped “Germany” behind the frog and with a diamond emblem framing an “R.” Although I’ve heard people say these bows were a lower level line from the Nurnberger shop, I’ve always associated that secondary stamp with the Alfons Reidl workshop, but yet another luthier insists they are from the Roth shop!

Needless to say, a good trade bow. Nickel mounted, and finished with fresh hair, silk on silk lapping, and a brown lizard leather thumb grip.

An astonishing balanced weight of 56.2 grams. Suitable for informed classical playing or for the advancing player on a budget.
