A Good German Violin With Several Repairs, Late 19th Century

This is an unfortunate example of how damage and repairs can devalue a violin. Yet, not to the extent that it is entirely undesirable. Whereas this is a violin that would easily have retailed for $4,500 in perfect condition, it is now available for a fraction of that price due to the button replacement and break to the scroll. Unsightly as they are, the repairs are entirely stable. This violin was made in Markneukirchen between 1885 and 1900. Decorated fittings and charming aesthetic, even still. If you are on a budget and want a violin that hits above its class, this one is a must try. It was traded in by a professional towards a collection quality 18th century French instrument.
