A Fine Silver Mounted Violin/Viola Bow by Arnold Bone

Arnold Bone was a Canadian American Achetier of great renown, heralded as one of the great instructors of his generation, and credited as one of the finest copyists of the 20th century. Many of today's reputed bow makers studied with either Bone, Salchow, or both. Because so many of his bows were passable as the work of the French Masters, it is unclear exactly how many bows he made, save for they numbered over a hundred.

This fine violin or viola bow features a well figured pernambuco stick of a rich chocolate color, sterling silver lapping and sterling mounts on an ebony frog running along a Vuillaume system. At 65 grams, the stick is as equally strong as it is sprightly, stiff enough for the most demanding viola playing without feeling unwieldy or lacking finesse on the violin. An unparalleled tool for a serious musician seeking to switch hit regularly.
