A Silver Mounted Violin Bow By C.A. Hoyer, Early 20th Century Germany.
Carl Adolf Hoyer (1840-1914) was born to a dynasty of luthiers and learned bow making from his father, Christian Friedrich Hoyer. He established an independent workshop in 1865 that grew to be the largest in Markneukirchen, and which produced both a wide range of models and various levels of quality. The workshop continued to operate under the leadership of his son, Carly Willy Hoyer until 1945.
This example of Carl Adolf Hoyer presents in a good state of preservation and is a characteristic example from his late ouvre which features a second brandstamp to the handle (ACHM between sections of two crossed bows).
