A Fine Contemporary Violin By Stefan Valcuha

A Slovakian national from Bratislava, Stefan Valcuha has both enjoyed an illustrious career and earned a reputation for exacting expertise in both restorations of instruments of the highest pedigree and provenance, and the artistic craftsmanship and vocal qualities of his personal creations. He trained in Mirecourt before moving to Straussberg, where he worked with Jean-Christopher Graff, and finally relocated to New York in 1997 to work with Rene Morel, with whom he opened his own shop in 2008 and enjoyed both a close friendship and ongoing collaboration until Morel’s passing in 2011. Today, he can be found in his workshop at Tarisio, where continues to produce dazzling instruments and render masterful restorations.
