A Good Violin by Wenzel Fuchs, Germany

Hailing from a long line of luthiers from the Czech village of Schonbach, German violin maker Wenzel Fuchs was one of many forced to relocate from his home after World War II. He found himself in the Franconian region, resettling in the town of Eltersdorf, near Erlangen, where he continued to create instruments of masterful quality and aesthetic appeal.
This Guarneri patterned Fuchs violin was made in the third quarter of the 20th century and presents in pristine condition, with no damages, nor any repairs, less a few scuffs and wear to the varnish on the treble shoulder from decades of professional use; featuring a moderately grained spruce for the top and richly flamed maple back of a single piece, with matching ribs and head, and a voice that is clear as a bell, full of color and depth, and altogether compelling.
