A Good German Violin From The Carl Gottlob Schuster (Jnr.) Firm, 1910.

The Carl Gottlob Schuster (Jnr.) firm was established in Markneukirchen, Germany in 1824, representing a hub for but my no means encompassing the Schuster family dynasty of over 30 artisans spanning several generations, back to the namesake of the family workshop, Carl Gottlob Schuster I (fl. 1730-1760). This well preserved example dated 1910 was made under the auspices of the family firm during the tenure of Raimund and Ulrich Schuster who led the workshop and business in general from 1895-1927. Though more lauded for their business acumen and pamphlet on the application of molecular theory to tone-woods used in violin-building, both were capable makers in their own right who worked for several important firms before assuming their leadership roles.
