A Modern Viola by J.C. Williamson, 1993. 16 1/4”

This viola was the 18th viola and 60th instrument made by J.C. Williamson, a luthier based in Hayward, California. It has a back length of exactly 412mm, putting it at a manageable 16 1/4,” and features a strikingly deep Bordeaux colored alcohol varnish with areas of moderate wear and craquelure. Aside from this wear, the viola has no cracks, nor damages, or any old repairs to speak of and represents excellent performance for the price point. Setup with a high quality custom fit bridge, and fittings of rosewood with bone accents, matching bone nut and saddle, and a Stradpet titanium tuner. Currently equipped with a Jargar “A,” Dominant “ “D” and “G” and Larsen “C” string.
