A Violin from Neukirchen, Possibly Voigt Family, 1790

An Old Warhorse of a violin, dating to the late 18th century, and more approximately, 1790. A curious piece hailing from Neukirchen; not to be mistaken with Markneukirchen, which lies shy of 500 miles South East.

There were a few notably prolific families working in Neukirchen at this time, but the most likely attribution is by a member of the Voigt family, from which it could have been several, and based on the outline and form. However, closer attribution is quite difficult as the f holes have been altered, a series of well executed repairs of over 100 years in age themselves. This face lift brought the countenance closer to the Hoyer family in influence, another dynasty of luthiers not unlike but perhaps more prolific than the Voigt family.

Fully restored and worked over in the shop, with no major issues other than those it has already suffered through the years. Currently equipped with a set of Tonica strings, with a Dominant E, and boasting a voice as rich and full of character as its physical aesthetic.
